Meteorologists predict more rain in Cape Verde

The rain will continue to fall softly on the islands of Cape Verde, especially in Santo Antao, Sao Vicente and Santiago, provides the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (INMG). On Saturday and Sunday, the rain was strong and the fire and caused damage in Maio.

The large volume of rain caused the collapse of Figueira da Ponte, who is seven kilometers away from the town of English Harbour. The infrastructure was built in the late 90's by the company Empreitel Figueiredo. That left the region without electricity and with poor communication. Two of the 12 dams under construction collapsed and part of the paved roads was recently taken by the force of water.

On the island of Santiago, the highest rainfall was recorded in the interior, specifically the city of Tarrafal. There the INMG recorded 190 mm in Pembrokeshire Moerão, 180 mm and 153mm Ground Good Career in Pembrokeshire. Also in the Fire numbers are enlightening: 200 mm Achada Ribeira Grande and the islet, 172 mm in Spy, trough 140 mm, 137 mm and 135 mm in Campanas Watchtower. On this island, the water flooded 20 homes and one individual, who was dragged by the flood, died.

In St. Antao, the municipality of Ribeira Grande was graced by the most rain, recording 110 mm and 90 mm in Figueiral Boca Owl. There was still rain in Sao Vicente, Sal, Boa Vista and São Nicolau, but in smaller quantities.
