Vadu and Day will be honored the 15th of January

The municipality of Ribeira Grande marks this Saturday, 15, a year after the death of singer and conductor Vadu Day, victims of a traffic accident, with a music festival. Zeca Nha Reinalda and Zeze di, uncle of the deceased musician, are among the guest artists.

The Ferro Gaita, and Kim Tó Alves, Princezito, Hernani and band, Cordas do Sol also will join the stage to remember a son of Santiago, who has devoted much love from the mountains to the island and its people, and young Salamansa.

Vadu died on January 12, 2010 at the age of 32. The author of "Preta" was the victim of a car accident in the town of Ribeira dos Órgãos, which lies between the towns of Ribeira Grande and Ponta do Sol. The truck driven by his friend Day - who also died - crashed into a cliff more than 50 meters deep and fell overboard.

The artist was born in the city of Praia, where he was born in 1977. Considered one of the most "fanatical" followers of the late Orlando Pantera, Vadu also had roots in music. His uncles, and Zeze Zeca Nha Reinalda, continue to make history and culture of funaná Cape Verde.
For posterity, Vadu left a stake in the project with three tracks "Ayan" (2002) and two albums, "Nha Raiz" (2005) and "Dixi Rubera" (2007).

In S. Vicente, Mindelo there will be a  reggae concert still in his honor at the Alta Lua Pub (Mindelo Hotel).

And this "remember" that makes "Reggae ", Eunice, Daisy, and other artists, will play songs from Vadu.
