Exports and imports increased in the first half of 2010

Exports and imports of Cape Verde increased 59.3% and 8.3% respectively in the first half of this year, in the year to March 2009. Portugal and Spain were the main countries of destination of exports Cape Verde.
According to the Bank of Cape Verde to Portugal followed mostly processed products (apparel and footwear), while for Spain were mainly exported products (fish). For imports of goods, the eurozone countries remain the main trading partners in Cape Verde, especially Portugal, Holland and Spain.
The trade with ECOWAS countries continues, in turn, have a negligible weight in the total external trade in Cape Verde. In the second quarter of this year,  imports from countries that community represented 1.8% of total goods imports and exports of goods only 0.9% of total exports.
In that period, most of the commercial relations of Cape Verde with the ECOWAS countries have been established in Benin, Senegal and Ghana, in the case of imports, and the Guinea-Bissau to exports.
