U.S. will donates 397 thousand U.S. dollars to fight drug trafficking in Cape Verde

Cape Verde will receive from the United States an amount of 397 thousand U.S. dollars (294 thousand euros) to promote actions against international drug trafficking and organized crime.

The news was advanced by official sources in Praia, cited by Panapress, when the government of Cape Verde is discussing the security issue with several public institutions, private and civil society. Moreover, the government announced on Monday a plan to combat juvenile delinquency and urban violence, strengthening the presence of police on the streets.

But there is also the need to combat international drug trafficking and organized crime here and the amount of 397 thousand U.S. dollars from the U.S. provided significant assistance.

This amount is entered in the U.S. for 2011, which is being defended by Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, in Congress.

The Department of State U.S. also provides increased funding for the program of the International Narcotics Control and Law Enforcement 445 million to 2.14 billion U.S. dollars.
