Strong winds will hit Cape Verde |
|
Cape Verde, with an higher incidence in the Western Isles, will be soon hit by strong winds, up to 60 km/h. Meteorological services recommend that small boats should not go out in the sea in the coming hours.
Joseph Almeida, the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics, told us that usually winds in Cape Verde are caused by cyclones of the Azores. When they come up to Cape Verde, increase in intensity and turn into very strong winds.
"We are talking about winds of almost 60 kmh per hour and will hit nearly all the islands except Fogo and Brava. The wind causes changes in the sea so it is advisable that small boats do not make the sea, "points out the weather system information.
According to estimates released by INMG until 24 pm today, the 9th, Cape Verde will have periods of cloudy skies, with good visibility (less than 10 km) or moderate (8km), which may have been poor (less than or equal to 5 thousand meters) at night and in the easternmost regions of the archipelago.
The wind will blow cool (17-21 knots) the very cool (22-27 knots), sometimes strong (28-33 knots), the northeast and east-northeast, in the south and west. "On the island of Santiago, the wind should be left over from 20 to 25 knots, or about 50 km per hour," said Almeida.
The sea will be locally big, with wave from the Northwest, with waves of 2.0 and 3.5 meters of height.
