Description: Boa Vista is extremely simple in terms of its constitution. This is an area eroded by wind and volcanic origin. The absence of any relevant hill or mountain makes Boa Vista the most desert island of Cape Verde. The environment is rather similar to Africa where there are miles of sand and desert with few acacia trees scattered here and there. These plants have the advantage of growing in a group with origin from the same base by making the surroundings look very green. The real beauty here are the beaches infact are beautiful long and with fine white sand surronded by a pristine area, and arid desert. The sea offers a lot: Marlins, yellow fin tuna, glass fish, sharks and more. Between March and April you can spot gray whales while in September and October you can attend the opening of million of eggs turtles.
Directions: The International Airport of Boa Vista, recently launched, provides the link between the islands and the rest of the world. There is a daily link by boat from/to Sal.
What to see: The beach in Santa Monica, 18 km long with no infrastructure that modify the environment. The village of Fundodas Figueiras which is a zone of very lively and colorful. The beach of Boa Esperança, which offers a wonderful view of an ancient wreck. Sal Rei. There are the ruins of what was the highlight of the Duke of Braganza.
